2018 Henri de Lorgère Côtes du Rhône hails from a classic French wine region known for producing superb Grenache-driven red blends. This dry, full-bodied wine is dark ruby with a purple sheen. Intense yet inviting aromas of wild black fruits burst forth, grounded by savory hints of spice and licorice. On the palate, fruit and spice notes carry into a round mouthfeel with refined tannins. Expressing beautiful ripe fruit flavor with subtle earthy-herbal qualities, this wine is typical in style to reds from the Southern Rhône. Six grape varieties are included in this blend, led by Grenache (55%) and Syrah (30%), with delicious support from Carignan, Marselan, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault. Grapes were hand-picked from vineyards in Côtes du Rhône, which experiences a warm, Mediterranean-influenced climate. Paying tribute to a legendary sailor who invested in Bordeaux vineyards in the 19th century, Henri de Lorgère is a signature of quality, adventure, and success. This red blend is from Benoit Valérie Calvet, an award-winning, Bordeaux-based team. Benoit Valérie Calvet has been combining tradition and innovation to design and produce enjoyable, high-quality wines for more than 35 years. 2018 Henri de Lorgère Côtes du Rhône will complement grilled meats and vegetables as well as spicy foods. It pairs especially well to Mediterranean-inspired dishes.
